Basic things of What is electronics

There are a number of basic concepts that form the foundations of the today’s electronics technology. If you don’t know how to learn Basic things of What is electronics you can easily waste a lot of time to learning unnecessary things. Then in this article, we are going to give you a brief overview of basic Electronics.

You have to learn basic electronics and creating your own simple projects which is more easier than you may think. Electrical current, voltage, capacitances, resistance, and inductance are a few of the basic elements of electronics.

What is Electronics?

This is the study and use of electrical devices that operate by controlling the flow of electrons or other electrically charged particles.

Alternatively electronics is defined as, it is science of how to control the electric energy in which the electrons have a fundamental role. Electronics deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes, integrated circuits, and associated passive electrical components and interconnection technologies. Commonly, electronic devices contain basic circuits consisting primarily or exclusively of active semiconductors provided with passive elements, such a circuit is described as an Electronic circuit.

History of Electronics

The history of electronics is very huge area and it is not possible to provide the complete information of the systematic history of electronics. Electronics concept was started first like philosophy, after that physics, after that electrical engineering and now this cannot got its recognition. To understand the basic concept of electronic we have to know origin of electronics and evolution of electronics.

Who discovered electronics?

The history of electronics began to evolve separately from that of electricity late in the 19th century with the identification of the electron by the English physicist Sir Joseph John Thomson and the measurement of its electric charge by the American physicist Robert A. Millikan in 1909

When did electronics begin?

In the interwar years, the subject was known as radio engineering. The word electronics began to be used in the 1940s In the late 1950s the term electronic engineering started to emerge.

Evolution of Electronics

Electronics has evolved around three compounds as vacuum tubes, transistor, and integrated circuits. In 1883, Thomas Alva Edison discovered that electrons will flow from one metal conductor to another through vacuum. This discovery of conductor is known as Edison Effect. In 1897, John Fleming applied Edison Effect in inventing a two – element electron tube called diode and triode were instrumental in amplification and transmission of electrical energy. But vacuum tubes were bulky, fragile and had high power consumption. Therefore, it gave rise to another invention, and it was a prominent development in the field of electronics.

In 1948 John Bardeen, Water Brattain and William Shockley at Bell Laboratories developed Transistor and they received Nobel Prize for their creation. These metal transistors replaced vacuum tubes as this semiconductor device are compact in size, light in weight, low cost, less power consumption, fast and have longer life if operated within same operating conditions.

The word Electronics is originated from the word electron which is a branch of science dealing with theory and use of devices in which the electrons travel through a vacuum or semiconductor medium. Electronics is that field of science which deals with the motion of electrons under the influence of applied electric and magnetic field. There are two branches of electronics as follows,

First is Physical Electronics and the second is Electronics Engineering, Physical electronics deals with the motion of electrons in a vacuum, gas or semiconductor. Electronics engineering deals with the design, fabrication and application of electronic devices.

The history of electronics can be summarized as:

1890: Hertz performed experiment on generation of electromagnetic waves.

1894: Sir J. C. Borse discovered the propagation of radio waves.

1895: H. A. Lorentz postulated the existence of electron.

1897: J. J. Thomson experimentally verified the existence of electron.

1997 Braun invented first electron tube.

1904: Fleming invented diode.

1906: De Forest invented triode.

1930: Monochrome Television invented.

1950: Color TV came to existence.

1963: IEEE introduced.

Role of electronics in everyday life of Century 2021

The birth of modern electronics is started from a vacuum diode. The year 2021 is changed because of electronics because all the systems used today are electronics based. Through, the future of electronics seems to be extremely good because of the growth in electronics. The upcoming fields like bioinformatics and quantum communication are leading regions of electronics.

In this 21st century, every day we are dealing with electronic circuits and devices in some of the other from because gadgets, home appliances, computers, transport systems, cell phones, cameras, tv, etc. All have electronic components and devices. Today’s world of electronics has made deep inroads in several areas, such as healthcare, medical diagnosis, automobiles, industries, electronics projects, etc. and convinced everyone that without electronics, it is really impossible to work. Therefore, looking forward to knowing the past and about the brief history of electronics is necessary to review our minds and to get inspired by those individuals who sacrificed their lives by engaging themselves in such amazing discoveries and inventions that costs everything for them, but nothing for us, and, in turn benefitted as immensely since then.

How electrical circuits work?

An electrical circuit is a circular path of conductors by which electric current can be flow. A simple electrical circuit consists of a voltage source, conducting wires, switch and a small lamp which is connected between the voltage source and the switch. Working of basic circuit can easily understand from video file as below,

Now the connections are made properly and voltage source is on, if switch is Closed then the circuit complete which works as a closed circuit and current is flowing through the circuit and lamp is glow. In other words, closed circuit would allow the flow of electricity in circuit. Once the switch is open then the circuit is works as open circuit therefore circuit will be break and lamp will no longer light. You are easily understand open circuit and closed circuit concepts from images as below,

In practical applications, circuits are opened by such devices as switched, fuses, and circuit breakers.

Basic concepts of Voltage, Current and Resistance.

When beginning to explore the world of electronics, first things are to understand the basics of voltage, current and resistance. There are the three basic building blocks required to utilize electricity and electronics. Current and voltage are two fundamental quantities. As voltage is the cause of an event and current is the effect of that event. Easy way to understand these three concept by following

  • ·      Current flows in circuit
  • ·      Resistance resists the flow of current
  • ·      Voltage pushes the current in circuit

What is Voltage?

The electrical force that would drive an electric current between two points is termed as voltage. Voltage is the pressure from an electrical circuit’s power source that pushes charged electrons means current through a conducting loop, enabling them to do work such as illuminating a light. Voltage is represented by the symbol “V”.

What is Current?

The rate at which electric charge flows past a point in a circuit is termed as current. Current is the rate at which electric charge flows past a point in a circuit. In other words, current is the rate of flow of electric charge, Current is represented by the symbol “I”. The SI unit of the current is Ampere, which is denoted by “A”.

What is Resistance?

Resistance is defined as measure of its opposition to the flow of electric current.  Resistance is measured in ohm, which is denoted by (Ω).

How do you understand What is electronics

In this article we started with basic electronics is easier than you might think. I try to explain electronic things in simple way then anyone can be understand the basic electronics things and every beginner should be able to read a schematic and build a circuit using standard electronic components.

Conclusion

I try to explain the things behind What is electronics, as simple as possible so that every beginner is able to understand from this article. Hope you got a useful information of brief history of electronics.
History of electronics is described from many philosophers and great inventors for bettering our world and technology.
